Purpose

Our mission is to provide a space where everyone in the community can share stories, experiences, and observations related to health and wellness. Whether it’s through words, art, poetry, or any other creative form, your contribution can help us understand the diverse ways in which we all experience health and healing. This is a platform for voices that might otherwise go unheard, and for stories that may help others feel seen, understood, and supported.

Submissions

You can choose to remain anonymous if preferred. Your name will not be used unless you give explicit consent.

Health stories can come in many forms, and we welcome a variety of mediums:

  • Written Narratives: Short stories, personal essays, journal entries, letters, etc.
  • Poetry: Free verse, haiku, or other poetic forms.
  • Art: Drawings, paintings, sketches, and digital art that express a health-related experience.
  • Photography: Photos that tell a story or capture moments of health, healing, or wellness.
  • Diary/Journal: Excerpts from personal journals, reflective writings, or daily entries that capture moments of health and life.
  • Observational Pieces: Essays, articles, or reflections based on observations of health-related experiences in your family, community, or the world.

What to Share

We’re open to a wide range of themes and topics, including (but not limited to):

  • Personal Health Experiences: Stories of living with chronic illness, mental health challenges, recovery, and wellness journeys.
  • Caregiver Stories: The experience of caring for someone with a health condition and the impact it has on you.
  • Family and Friend Perspectives: How health has touched those close to you, whether through support, struggle, or inspiration.
  • Healthcare Experiences: Your experience with the healthcare system.
  • Community Health: Observations about the health of your community, including its strengths and the challenges it faces.
  • Hope, Healing, and Resilience: Stories of recovery, strength, and personal growth.
  • Cultural Views on Health: How cultural traditions, practices, and beliefs shape one’s health journey.

Tips when Writing

  • Be Yourself: Share your truth; whether it’s a heartwarming tale, a difficult struggle, or a joyful recovery. Your voice matters.
  • Creative Freedom: Don’t worry about fitting into a specific format or style. Whether you write in prose, poetry, or draw a picture, let your creativity flow.
  • Think of Impact: How might your story help someone else? You never know how sharing your experience can inspire or support others.
